Student Life

Building Community

Being in the JPII Newman Community allows you to surround yourself with other students of similar faith and values. We offer dedicated study and prayer spaces, and a host of activities such as Bible studies, guest speakers, daily Mass, service trips and more. Here, you can stay connected to your peers and grow in your faith. You can also live here at Newman Hall, affordable, apartment-style housing.

Access to campus is as easy as hopping on the UNO shuttle (which stops right at our front door!) or riding your bike to the Dodge and Scott campuses for your classes, recreation and meals.

Get involved in the community in a variety of ways:

  • Come to Mass at the St. John Paul II Oratory
  • Join us for Community Night on Thursdays after 8:30p.m. Mass
  • Hang out in the outdoor courtyard or play SpikeBall on the lawn
  • Study in the Commons near the fireplace
  • Come to hear a great speaker
  • Enjoy prayer and meeting rooms
  • Join a Bible Study
  • Enjoy retreats and mission trips
  • Get involved in service programs

Resident Assistants

Resident Assistants (RAs) are students who live on each floor and assist the resident manager in their role of making Newman Hall a safe and vibrant home for each of our residents. An RA is on call each evening and spends time at the front desk and making rounds in the building. RAs are a resident’s first call if they have a question about resident life, are in need of something in particular (ie, if locked out of one’s room, have a maintenance request, etc.) or are looking to get more involved in the life of the Newman Center.

The RAs for the 2020-2021 school year are:

Hannah Rodricks
Women's 2nd Floor North

Danielle Buresh
Women's 2nd Floor South

Hannah Seidl
Women's 4th Floor

Colson Kosch
Men's 3rd Floor South

Sam Wilder
Men's 3rd Floor North

Ben Duke
Men's 1st Floor

RA on call phone number: 402.981.3865

Interested in becoming an RA next year? Contact the Resident Manager for more details.
