February 20 was an exciting day as we held the first-ever student tour of the JPII Newman Center! We welcomed more than 60 high school and college students and parents, fed them lunch, and led them through the still-under-construction JPII Newman Center. The enthusiasm of our potential residents was contagious, and my staff and I are looking forward to welcoming these students into their new home this fall.
I am also thrilled to announce that we are on track to open our residence hall this coming August, and that the St. John Paul II Oratory (our chapel) will follow just a short while later in January 2017. With all of this excitement building around the JPII Newman Center, I want to thank all of those individuals who have made this dream a reality. Also, a huge thank you to our students who have signed leases to join us next fall as our first residents. The JPII Newman Center will be a beacon of hope on UNO’s campus and will serve as a second home for all students for generations to come.
