The St. John Paul II Newman Center exists to serve college students and university staff and faculty. While we welcome occasional visitors, health care workers, and the Aksarben Senior Living Community, we are committed to serving college parishioners.

Small Groups

We are called to be in communion with one another, and joining a small group is a great way to grow in faith and friendship.

FOCUS (Fellowship of Catholic University Students) is a missionary organization dedicated to walking with students in understanding and deepening their faith while in college. At JPII Newman, our FOCUS missionaries lead small groups while at the same time building up student leaders to begin their own small groups. We have over 30+ weekly bible studies that work with your schedule.

Catholic 101

If you’d like to learn more about the Catholic faith, attend a lecture in the Catholic 101 series!

Every Monday night at 7:30pm in the Newman Leadership Center, Dcn. Omar Guterriez lectures on the Catholic faith in his Catholic 101 seminar series.

See the full schedule below!

RCIA

Seeking baptism? Are you baptized but not confirmed?

We are here to walk on this journey with you!  The Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA) is the fancy name for the process of inquiry and learning that takes place on the road to joining the Church. We know this is a personal journey and we are so honored to have the opportunity to walk with you.

Vocations

Discerning a vocation? Curious about discernment but not sure where to start?

The Omaha Archdiocese Vocations Office has resources to help! Fr. Scott Schilmoeller, the Director of Vocations, is in residence here at the JPII Newman Center and can help you find your next step. You can also visit the Omaha Vocations website for discernment resources and guidance!

Marriage

Interested in getting married at JPII Newman?

The JPII Newman Center is a parish for college students in the Omaha area. Weddings are reserved for registered student parishioners, alumni, and staff.

The Archdiocese of Omaha requires that couples contact a priest at least six months before the proposed wedding date. To begin this process, please complete this Wedding Request Form. One of our priests or staff members will be in touch with you as soon as possible to schedule an initial meeting.

Mission Initiatives

As Christians we are called to be active in our communities!

In an effort to keep college students connected to opportunities locally, over the summer, and after graduation, we have established a space where you can easily find those resources. While not sponsored by the JPII Newman Center, the following initiatives are all great opportunities for college students to explore! Think of this as a virtual bulletin board!
