Thinking about becoming Catholic?

Are you seeking baptism? Are you baptized but not confirmed? Are you interested in learning more about entering the Catholic Church?

We know this is a personal journey and we are so honored to have the opportunity to walk with you.

WHAT IS RCIA?

The Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA) is the fancy name for the process of inquiry and learning that takes place on the road to joining the Church. The Sacraments of Initiation include Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist (Holy Communion). By receiving these sacraments, one becomes a full member of the Catholic Christian community.

The JPII Newman Center RCIA process begins with a six-week peer-led Bible study which provides an introduction to the faith and an opportunity to grow in prayer and friendship with Jesus. After completing the Bible study, each participant will be paired with a student leader on the RCIA team to explore the teachings of the Church in a one on one or small group setting. This allows for a more personalized experience where the participants can spend as much time as needed on certain topics and move as quickly or slowly as desired.

We plan to begin the Bible study in September but new participants are welcome to join at any time.

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?

Any college student in Omaha who is interested in joining or learning more about the Catholic Church is welcome to join us. This can be those unbaptized, baptized in another Christian Church, or baptized in the Catholic Church but have never received Eucharist or Confirmation.
