Top 16 Best Worship Songs

“The one who sings prays twice.” -St. Augustine

God is worthy of our worship just because He is. Though the Lord doesn’t need our worship, we are compelled to because of His greatness and goodness that is evident all throughout our lives. When people recognize who God truly is; His heart, His character, His deeds, it is quite natural for us to praise Him. To share in His joy. To thank Him.

David reminds us that our God is worthy to be worshipped. He is worthy of being our delight, worthy of our dependence, and worthy of our devotion. He is worthy to be loved; to be praised; to be exalted, and to be followed. David said, “I called to the Lord, who is worthy of praise.” Psalm 18:3

Let’s sing to Him all the days that we live. Here are my top 16 worship songs.

  1. “Jesus What A Savior” by Housefires

The reason I love this song so much is because of its simple reminder of the greatest act of love I will ever know: God’s salvation of humanity on the cross. Not only did Jesus give up his entire life so that we could fully live, but he also gave us a perfect model of how to most purely love. What a gift it is to be reminded of the moment in history when His sacrifice saved us all.

  2. “Pieces (Live)” by Bethel Music & Steffany Gretzinger

God doesn’t want to give himself to us in fragments. He wants to give himself to us fully. We see this present every time we celebrate Mass as this unleavened piece of bread becomes Jesus fully present in the Eucharist.

  3. “Love is Moving” by Audrey Assaud

The first line of this song always pierces me. “The hem of his robe is where our healing lies.” What if we lived with the faith of the Hemorrhaging women. To believe that if we reach for Jesus we will be healed. To believe that Love is moving. Every day and in every moment, Love is moving among us.

  4. “Mountain to Valley” by Housefires

Wherever you go, wherever you are, whatever season it may be, his presence covers you. Allow Him to overshadow your life so that people only see His light in you!

  5. “Runaway” by Jess Ray

This song is about how Jesus pursues us with a fierce love. No matter how many times you have turned your back on Him, no matter how lost you might feel. He is seeking you and constantly pursuing your heart.

  6. “Your Eyes See Me” by Mission House, Jess Ray, & Taylor Leonhardt

This song is a reminder that we are seen and heard by the Lord. When we are brokenhearted, when we are lost, when we are grieving. He sees and experiences all that we suffer.

  7. “Closer” by Maverick City Music (feat. Brandon lake)

If God stopped loving us for even just a second, we would seize to exist. We need His love! Let’s draw closer to Him and love Him in return.

  8. “The Artist” by Sarah Sparks

God has authority over us. He is the artist and we are the art. He is the potter and we are the clay.

  9. “Endless Praise” Charity Gayle

    He deserves all our praise.

  10. “Such an Awesome God” by Maverick City Music (feat. Maryanne J. George)

“Such an Awesome God” proclaims who God is; His character. Nothing comes close to our Lord.

  11. “Little Litany” by Brother Isaiah

Brother Isaiah is a member of the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal. Many of his songs are just prayers from the heart, like this one. It is a litany of trust.

  12. “Just Be” by Kim Walker-Smith

The title says it all. May we find ourselves abandoned at the feet of Jesus.

  13. “Refiner” by Maverick City Music (feat. Chandler Moore & Steffany Gretzinger)

God is our refining fire. In blacksmithing, fire is often used to test and remove the impurities within metals.  In the same way, God’s fire tries us and detaches error that causes us to become less than holy.  He also changes our desires to align with His. May we be the wick, and He be the fire. Let us burn for Him. Life is a refining process to become more like Him.

  14. “It is Well - Live” by Bethel Music & Kristene DiMarco

There will always be storms to face, and sometimes there will be tragedies. But with faith in a loving God and with trust in His divine help, we can confidently say, “It is well with my soul.”

  15. “Hallelujah Here Below” by Elevation Worship

Hallelujah means God be praised or to praise God. Knowing that God is Almighty and that He’s in control and we can trust Him makes us praise Him. Were broken people in need of a savior so we sing out to Him and He delights in our song.

  16. “The Secret Place” by Phil Wickham & Madison Cunningham

But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you.” Matthew 6:6

“The one who sings prays twice.” -St. Augustine
